Listening to the Voter
I have entered the race for Mayor of Harlem and will run as a write-in candidate. I intend to knock on every door in this community to listen and visit about where we are now and where we can be in four years. My Platform has four points:
Listen: As Mayor, I will listen to each citizen and take notes of what I hear from them.
Town Hall Meetings: As Mayor, I will conduct City Council meetings in the tradition of a Town Hall meeting. Public input will not be limited to Public Forum. Public input will be asked for on each agenda item as it is discussed.
City Government: As Mayor, I will insist on transparency in City Government. All agenda items will be openly discussed in all City Council meetings and all background information will be provided.
City Budget: As Mayor, I will write about the budget challenges facing the City of Harlem including rising water rates, sewer rates and the special assessments for garbage and police protection. I will sincerely seek the voters input about how to limit budget increases, and how to expand the tax base to create more revenue.
• As Mayor I will insist on transparency in the City Budget. The annual budget process will include public budget workshops. The budget will not be done behind closed doors.
